Gearbox whine in 6th

Postby PTb » Thu Mar 16, 2017 4:17 pm

Hi folks.
I'm the proud new owner of a 10month old MT09 with 1300 miles on the clock. Bike is fantastic but I've noted a whining noise from the gearbox in 3rd but more noticeably in 6th. You notice it around 55mph and then it disappears as you accelerate. Has anyone noticed this on their bike. I've read it may have something to do with the gearbox set up. If it is a fault I'd like to have it fixed on warranty.
Thanks.

Hi,

It's no help but they all do that to some extent.

The gears are straight cut.

Cheers.

You'll just have to accelerate out of it. I notice the roughness around 4500 rpm.

Standard across the MT-09 range that sir. They all do it, especially in 3rd.
