Has anyone got their first service done? Did it cost a lot?

That's quite a lot for first servicing. I've booked mine for this Saturday so will let you know what happens. The guy at Yamaha said it should be between £50 to £100.

It's the dealer's decision - there is a cost for the first service and the dealer can choose to include it in the bike purchase cost or invoice it later. If the cost is included in the bike purchase cost then you would need to go back to the selling dealer for the service. If you buy the bike in London and have the 1st service in Exeter then obviously that dealer will charge full price.

So, the key is to know where you will have the 1st service done. If this will be the selling dealer then negotiate the cost of the first service in with the purchase price. This is what I did. Bought & serviced at Skellerns in Cheltenham. I paid £32 for the 1st service as the cost was just the oil & filter. I had already paid the labour element when buying the bike.

Obviously, if you are in the reverse situation, make sure the dealer does not include a service cost in the purchase price.

Chap at A2 Yamaha Gravesend said they discount the first service and quoted me £85... They don't need a valve check at 600 btw. Just basic safety checks and new oil.

I remember my one was £65 from Powerbiking in High Wycombe. That was last year though.

What they charge for a loan bike??? First I've ever heard. Usually it's just put in the fuel you've used while on loan. I've dealt with 3 dealers (Honda Suzuki and Yamaha) and all are the same.
