Horn upgrade

Postby Whitworth Wanderer » Fri Jan 06, 2017 4:29 pm

As with {most} bike horns ,they are at best very feeble sounding any worthy up grades for the Tracer & would prefer a twin horn set up...any suggestions ?

Ive been toying with getting this one mate:

http://www.rg-racing.com/browsebike/Yamaha/MT-09_Tracer_-_FJ-09/2015/DENTT-SB10100B/

I've bought plenty of kit from R&G before and have a radiator guard, crash bungs, shock sock and grip pads from R7G currently on my Tracer. If their other stuff is anything to go by it'll be good quality and easy to fit. The only thing is, its £30, for horn....

TDC Automotive Somerset....briefly ... ... in pairs so replace original horn & the bolt supporting brake hose replace with the other horn [longer bolt & spacer needed] be VERY careful as the threaded holes are rather soft material...so DO NOT cross thread & I "piggy backed" connected up to short loom to both horns....all a bit fiddly, but [well] worth the effort for the end result......HORNS YOU CAN HEAR !!!!! ;)

Just fitted a Denali Sound Bomb Mini as a direct replacement for the weedy OEM horn - I had to bend the supplied brackets to make sure it didn't foul the LHS fork and the terminals were facing the other way - apart from that the more dozy of drivers are now aware of my presence!!

Not bad for just under £24 and no need to supply additional wiring for a relay etc.

The "mini sound bomb" appears to be the easier fit,but the objective is to ditch the feeble original horn & replace with something that gets you heard ;)
